Company History

IDM has grown from a small business entity in 2004, to become the leading debt management company in South Africa. The company's history has been more than 9 years in the making, as it has been the founder and CEO, Ian Wason's dream to transform the approach to home loan refinancing and debt management in South Africa and become the industry leader.

April 2004

IDM was founded in 2004, by the British businessman and social entrepreneur, Ian Wason.

May 2005

BondBusters was launched as South Africa's first debt consolidation/re-mortgaging specialists. This division of The IDM Group aims to find better interest rates on mortgages for South African homeowners.

January 2007

With the introduction of the National Credit Act (NCA), DebtBusters was launched in order to provide South African consumers with debt counselling, a means of solving their debt problems and gain a second chance to build a brighter future.

June 2007

IDM extended their services by launching InsuranceBusters, in order to offer consumers a broad range of insurance products and ensure that clients have the most cost effective insurance cover in place.

May 2011

IDM identified the need to provide clients with cover for their debt in the event of calamity and thus, lunched Credit Life Cover with their insurance partners Hollard.

February 2013

IDM launched Consumer Debt Help (CDH) which provides debt counselling to consumers with lower incomes and debts. CDH is proving very popular as it grows rapidly to provide debt counselling to the most financially vulnerable consumers in South Africa.

May 2014

DebtBusters launched South Africa's first online self-service customer portal to provide transparency throughout the debt counselling process, free financial education, tips and access to additional resources.
